After I went out this morning to hunt for this month's Vogue, I decided to do a quick portrait of Hugh Jackman. I used only drafter's lead in blue and red. I am totally looking forward to this movie!
Wow, this is beautiful!! It's amazing what you managed to achieve with just those two colours, especially the skin tones on his face... The colour choice is very fitting, too. Was that intended or not?
Yes it was! Blue and red are my go-to colours; I usually end up using them the most for their symbolism in Les Miserables. Red connotes passion, anger, his convict status, and the fact that his young-at-heart. Blue represents aloofness, cold, mystery, stability, structure, and loyalty.
The effect from the red and blue layered together is so cool, especially in the face where they blend into a skin tone. I'm getting pretty excited for this movie too. December is almost upon us.
